Emma Mistele is a composer and performer who plays keyboard instruments and electronics. She is interested in the visual, theatrical properties of live music performance. Currently, she is studying and creating notation for improvisers.
Recent and ongoing collaborators include Sam Boston (handmade electronics), Marie Carroll (bass koto and SuperCollider), Noa Koffman-Adsit (cello), Bartek Alicki (juggling and acrobatics), Negar Soleymanifar (piano, voice, and found objects), Shawn O’Sullivan (electronics), James Praznik (piano), and Ethan Schwartz (banjo).
Emma holds an MA in music from Wesleyan University (2025), where she studied composition and improvisation with Ron Kuivila, Paula Matthusen, Jay Hoggard, and Darius Jones. She studied composition with Natacha Diels at the University of Pennsylvania, where she completed her BA (2023).
